This pharmaceutical drug is one of the combination drugs - analgesics and antipyretics, as well as alkaloids, and used as antipyretic and mild pain relievers.

The main active ingredients are paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and caffeine. The mechanism of antipyretic nature of paracetamol is due to the ability to affect the central nervous system by blocking the synthesis of its prostaglandins. This effect is possible due to the ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase-1 and 2. At the same time, there is also an effect on the centers in the central nervous system that are responsible for the work of thermoregulatory and pain centers. Paracetamol does not have an anti-inflammatory effect. As a result, the drug does not affect the state of water-salt balance, as well as the mucous surface in the gastrointestinal tract. Aspirin, in addition to the antipyretic effect, also has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

Caffeine belongs to the alkaloid group of drugs. It has the property of a mild painkiller and stimulant. Its main property, used in the treatment of flu and colds, is the ability to enhance (when used in small doses) the analgesic effect of paracetamol.

Composition and release form

The main active ingredients are paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and caffeine.

The drug is sold in tablet form, containing 250 mg of aspirin, 200 mg of paracetamol and 50 mg of caffeine per tablet.

Indications

The specified pharmaceutical preparation is used for symptomatic treatment of pain and elevated body temperature of mild and moderate severity, as well as for suppression of the cough reflex. In particular, it is effective for:

• ARVI and flu-like conditions characterized by muscle pain and hyperthermia;
• arthralgia, myalgia, neuralgia, migraine, toothache, headache, algomenorrhea.

Contraindications

The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or one of the auxiliary components.

Also contraindicated in:

• severe renal dysfunction;
• severe liver dysfunction;
• respiratory disorders due to depression of the respiratory center;
• pulmonary insufficiency;
• glaucoma;
• In pediatrics, it is not used until the age of 12.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, this drug may only be prescribed in extreme life-threatening situations, upon prescription and under the supervision of a physician.

If there is a need to take the drug during lactation, it should be suspended for the duration of treatment.

Method of administration and dosage

• This drug is taken orally, between meals, with a sufficient amount of liquid.
• The recommended single dose is 1-2 tablets, the daily dose is no more than 8 tablets per day.
• The next dose can be taken no earlier than 4-6 hours later.
• Should not be used for more than 3 days as an antipyretic and no more than 5 days as an analgesic.
• The duration of treatment, the exact dosage and its correction are determined individually by the attending physician.

Overdose

Overdose may cause increased side effects, in particular, in the form of liver dysfunction, pallor, anemia, hepatonecrosis. Long-term use of caffeine may cause CNS excitation, tachycardia.

In case of excessive oral intake, it is recommended to use symptomatic treatment, perform gastric lavage, and take enterosorbents.

Side effects

When treated with this drug, side effects occur extremely rarely, as the drug is well tolerated.

Occasionally, side effects may occur in the form of allergic reactions - allergic urticaria, itching, rash, swelling, erythema multiforme exudative.

Storage conditions and terms

The shelf life is no more than 3 years from the date of manufacture indicated on the packaging by the manufacturer.

Storage temperature should not exceed 25°C.
